Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about poker. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
