Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. He says that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
