Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
