Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
