Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
