Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
