Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender in the world by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
