Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
