Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
