Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
