Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
