Competing in Holdem Poker on the Web No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Aug 022022

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
