Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
