Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
