Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
