Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
